Hey Guys!

Shoot! Cobwebs! Darn it!

I know! I know! I went AWOL.

I won’t blame writers block this time around because I’m putting the blame on Medilag Student Affairs, Airtel, My sheer laziness and the new boo! Yes you! (Btw, stop reading my blog and you too Bolaji! Stop telling mummy everything you read on my blog. :*)

So how do they all come in?
Well, to blog I need Internet. So I blame Medilag student affairs for putting me in a room cubicle where the network/fresh air that manages to seep in is next to nothing. I Also Blame Airtel Ng for their crappy ass service. I just can’t port to MTN because Airtel is cheaper. I mean, I pay =N=1,500 for 2GB. My sheer laziness for making me lazy and the new boo for taking up my time (don’t stop!).

Well, while I was away, I wasn’t up to no good, I’ve been up to quite a lot (even though not award-worthy!); I picked up cooking. Now, I’m like a cooking monster. I google recipes and try them out and invested in kitchenware even though I don’t have a kitchen of my own. I just can’t wait till I have my own kitchen with all the top quality cookware and crockery. I now eat three times a day and I’ve since gained 5kg. Yay me!

My Obs&Gynae posting was over with and it was one hellluva posting! At a point, seeing pregnant women made me get sick to my stomach. Seeing fibroids and vaginas (excuse my French) made me feel even worse. There were just too many of them. I also got tired of seeing women in labor getting their vaginas torn with vicious looking scissors in the name of episiotomies. This made me consider elective caesarean section to birth all my 8 children.

‘Obs&Gynae was fun while it lasted.

I finished my (Internal) Medicine rotation on Friday and it was hellish yet fun! There was this “Medusa” of a consultant that eat time she sets her eyes on me, go limp like a boneless chicken instead of turning into stone. When she asks a question even if I have the faintest idea, I just look like groundnut and shake my head. I have since made some doctor friends and I’m extremely happy to be leaving medicine. I’ve had enough of ‘Medusa’. I’ll miss my medicine doctors though, most of them are a lot of fun. I learnt so much in medicine that I think I may start locum already.

Some other things also happened;

-I watched 9 complete seasons of Grey’s anatomy. I wonder why i wasn’t watching it earlier.

-Also watched 7 complete seasons of That 70s Show. Really Hilarious show. Gotta love Mila Kunis!

-Watched a documentary titled ‘The Real Story Of Nigeria‘ almost 10 times. If you haven’t seen it, you have to. Find out how great Nigeria was just so that you can be angry about where we are right now. #SadStuff

-Watched Damages and Political Animals too.

-I read Dan Brown’s Inferno & Stephen Chbosky’s ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ Both books were awesome.

-I also picked up knitting. I’m currently knitting swaddling clothes for my unborn child. I’ll probably be able to knit more when I get my maternity leave.

-My Pops gave me a car back in April because I aced my exams and I’ve been learning to drive every weekend since then. I have since mastered parallel parking and reversing. I can drive from Lagos to Abuja in reverse. My only fear is driving on the freeway.

About my natural hair, It’s 8 months old already and it’s not growing as fast as I expected; but I’m patient. You know what they say about the patient dog that gets fat.

Also, Bolu turned one on August the 27th and we hosted one helluva birthday party for her yesterday. She wore 16 dresses and cried all through.

So you guys see, I’ve been up to quite a lot, Not just lazing around.

How have y’all been

See ehn! This Medilag is a horrible place. No chill at all!
After two heartbreaking weeks of exam we weren’t giving time off to mend our broken hearts. Not even a day! Talk less of a week!

Exams finished on Friday, BCS started the following Monday. No chill.

BCS (Basic Clinical Skills) is an introduction to the clinics where new clinical students get oriented to basic clinical practices such as history taking and the use of some medical equipment. We get rotated through all the units in the college of medicine for a period of one month. At the end of this rotation, there is an exam! Phew!

I’m a member of Group D because my surname starts with ‘W’. My group members have been well behaved thus far and we are in our last day of our Dentistry posting. Dentistry has been a breeze and kind of a walk through. No hassles.

Tomorrow, We’re moving to O&G (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology). I hear these people are slave pushers. I don’t wanna go there. 😦

I’m in a dentistry lecture right now and this woman is talking about ‘history taking’ in Oral Pathology. I’m tired of hearing about history taking. The last 6 lectures have been based on history taking too. *bleh*

Kisses.
xx

PS: I’m just here almost dying of ‘Result Hypertension’. I wonder why these people are sitting on our results.
I would have uploaded a picture of me in my new ward coat but I’m just chilling for results to make the coat a permanent asset. *fingers crossed*

It’s been a long time since I wrote in this category; Life in Medilag has been really boring. Hence, nothing to tell you guys.
September is probably the best time I have had in med school. Apart from being my birth month and all, we had almost 3 weeks lecture free!!! 3 awesome weeks of lounging and reading for exams. Apparently, we ended all our third incourses in Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry almost simultaneously.
The incourses were ok. If I must say! With the exception of my biochemistry tho. METAB incourse. Like the hardest freakin’ thing. I coulda sworn that the questions were in Latin!
On to the fourth course then on to Professional Exam
The Big Guy. My very first professional exam. Eerily called Pros/MB.
I’ve different many tales of Pros. Of people who aced all their incourses and fared woefully in Pros. On the better side, people who didn’t pass a single incourse and aced Pros. Or people who failed all their incourses and even Pros and go on to ace the resit.
None is my portion sha. My incourses have been..well..uhm…None of your business 😀 but im looking forward to acing my first professional exams. I can’t even think of resiting..not to talk of repeating. It scares me.
So my MB should be in December/January. The time is not certain but whenever, I have to b can tale ready to kill ém cuz I’m gonna be examined on everything I’ve learnt since January!! Bloody hell!!!
I can’t even remember how to draw the brachial plexus *sigh*
Seeing as fourth incourse should last about six weeks, and we’re almost 3 weeks in, The finals might just be in December .
Anywho, I have to quit tweeting, blogging and any other side thing so I can take studying seriously. So I guess this is gonna be my last post in a really long while.
When I get back, I’ll probably have my own 30 day challenge. If my brain cells are not dried out that is. I really love what Qurr is doing with his. Very well thought out and all.
That should be all.
Hope to come back soon.
Thanks for reading.
PS: I don’t mind topic suggestions for my 30 day challenge. You can drop them in the comment box or tweet them at @Kemmiiii.

Thanks 😀
Ciao.

Hey People!! I know I have come again and thanks for coming again; But I have to start off by appreciating you all, Thank you for the Comments, Tweets, RTs, Commendations, Honest Criticism and all. I am genuinely overwhelmed. I love y’all.. God go make una bigger o!!.

In case you Carried last on my last post written by @Mizz_Starzz see it here

So you asked for the boring life of a Med Student…That I shall give you..

All errors are totally @Dhamyhan’s fault.

*************

This Post was meant to come up yesterday night and I was meant to tell you how I wrote my anatomy CA on the Head and the Neck which was actually okay but I can’t say if I’ll ace it cuz I was very sure of acing my CA on the lower limb but the result proved me wrong…

Have you ever been in such a situation;

The Efficientos of the class announce; Blah Blah Result is out!! Then you go…OMG! OMG!! OMG!!! Then..

On your way to the notice board —-> 😀

When you see people coming back —-> 🙂

You see that brilliant dude —-> 😐

You see the general performance —-> 😦

Your result —-> 😥

Hehe…Noticed how I used you and your?

I remember one time @bYbaaaa and I were on our way to the notice board too. This particular Alhaja..ever smiling and all was coming back, Her expression…PRICELESS..Dare greet her and chop hot slap.

Well, I was too lazy to post last night. Don’t lemme bore you with the details of how I slept early and still woke up a Few minutes Past 8am and I had a Lecture for 8am. Osinubi for that matter. I survived.

Well, I dunno how to arrange everything I want to tell you guys. Lemme do it Chronologically….My Lord!! that red line did not show!! I can spell!!!

In this Medilag ehn, its as if all the departments plan to release result upon result when there is an impending in-course. See what the physiology department did last Friday…Anatomy CA was this week and they decided to release our second in-course results. If I must say, That is the worst general performance I have seen in my entire life!!  But bone o! That exam was hard and the time was not even it. Anyway the Lecturers told us to expect the worst but it was the “worstest”.

Why do you want to know my score? Na you pay my school fees??

Kuro jare!! #Movingon

At this point, I can decide to beg those mamas in the church always calling me “doctor” to stop o! I never write first MB.

Then we have Biochemistry in-course in two weeks, which is sadly a day before my birthday 😦 . Anatomy Department decided to add more salt. They released the second in-course result today..Another cycle of depression.

*sigh* but what can man do? You will read, read, read, Turn to Iced Fish inside the cold room, Become furniture inside the library, Drink all the coffee your money can buy and still not pass, Im telling you; It is not life.

I’m not talking about myself o! Ehen!

But Anatomy lab has been fun lately, We have been dissecting the skull and all..

YES!! While cutting through the calvarium of our cadaver, Sukanmi used the saw to cut my hand by mistake 😦 I have taken appropriate shots and drugs for it tho but I can’t lie to you! I was scared sh*ttless! What if the cadaver died of AIDS or something. My stupid friend @bYbaaaa couldn’t care less..She started telling me all my stuff she was gonna inherit. So much for love.

That Aside, You know how I told you My cadaver has not been really helpful? Well I guess I can take that back now cuz The cadaver has the best brain so far!! ^_^ Other tables had rotten brains… Do I smell a SUB? People started propanding theories like he didn’t use his brain well that is why..well..warreva! We have a good brain…This is not a gbagaun o.

Then Today, I started wondering why the Histology attendants like lying. They will tell you “you will see the large lumen between the interstitium and the medulla” (Don’t google this..I wrote crap) But when you get to the Microscope all you will see is Pink or grey with some dots in the middle.. And we have to identify these things in the Steeple Chase o. *sigh* it is well.

There you have it…The really boring life of a grossly lazy Medico.

*****

PS: If you did not take the hint, My birthday is coming!! Y’all that promised to take me to the shrine <_< I have taken screenshots of your comments. They will be used against you in the court of law (inside joke).

Also Help a sisteh out..

You see? I’m humble 🙂

You should Follow Wana‘s 30 day challenge! Its really interesting.

Footnotes.

Calvarium –  Upper part of the cranium that surrounds the cranial cavity containing the brain.

Brain – Really?? No..Really??

Histology – Study of tissues. (Histo = Tissue)

First off! I want to appreciate people that have been encouraging me..you guys rock!!

No! Im not here to RANT! And This is not #The RantingsOfaGrosslyLazyMedico because Im lazy but not grossly lazy.. You feel me? 8) Kenny You are still sick for that comment..

Anyways, before I digress, Its about my week..HECTIC WEEK..

So I had my Physiology incourse on Tuesday! Yeah the one that I did not know the difference betweeen Tubular resorption and Tubular secretion..I did it sha and Im not gonna tell you how it was :P..Just because my First incourse was a sad story!  I was so happy with myself at the end of the exam but the result was an apology..

I was so heartbroken it felt as if…the more you read, the more you fail! I wont let that happen again tho..I will keep on reading…I wish I could read like some people tho… “read without ceasing’ Im sure if i try it i would drop dead! o well! Different strokes for different folks! BTW its not everybody that reads that passes, so also, It’s not everybody that dosent read that fails some people just have to listen in class #darrisol!

Sha Wednesday came, I had my problem based learning (PBL) presentation in Anatomy…PBL is this cool new way of learning..It involves giving the students a problem to solve..like in our case, They will give us a Patients case.. and the patients history, so we have to go about the anatomy of the affected part and then give a diagnosis..its meant to be cool but the circumstances surrounding it make it uncool so i’m not always interested….

Gehn Gehn! The next day was anatomy incourse! Curse my alarm clock! I got home that fateful Wednesday afternoon after the PBL ish and I was so tired, So i made up my mind to read a little, sleep around 7 and wake up at 12 to read..Omo mehn! I woke up at 6.30..I was so mad..Anyway I cannot blame anybody…I dint tell anyone I was having an exam the next day..even if..its everyman for himself..

The exam came, it went obviously..I wont tell you how it was too :p but it is well..

The highlight of the week!! Steeple Chase Yesterday (Friday) I’m sure you must have heard very sad stories about steeple chase but i’m not gonna paint a sad picture here, I will just tell you how it goes..

Well, steeplechase is an anatomy practical where there are 100 stations with different questions.. and there are a few resting spots where you can sit down..As the name implies, Each student is at a station or a resting spot…You have to answer your question in 30 seconds and after 30 seconds, the bell goes and you move on to the next…its quite hard tho..

They pin muscles, tie nerves veins, arteries and all sorts and they will ask you to identify them…There are also histology slides you have to identify which can be quite confusing i tell you because everything is pink and the ones I crammed did not even sho face..It is well..What I love about steeple chase is that even if you dunno it, you can write rubbish cuz there is no negative marking ^_^

And I met @MsSensitivity yesterday 🙂 So nice ^_^

*******************************************************************

PS: I also met @bule_jr for a short while in the morning (Friday) before my steeplechase…he is so nice ^_^ ..Hope to see him  more often..He is also a relationship blogger..see his blog here …I cant believe I forgot that 😦

The last time I updated in this category, I was going off about my GAS202 exam…well, I wrote the exam…T’was quite hard…but all is well…

Med Psychology held the next day…God Bless my legs…they led me to the right place at the right time…where I saw PQs…Asin! Divine intervention…I was going on my own o! And I saw a small group of people…being the jovial person I am (yes im jovial) I went to greet them…Ashey they were practicing Past Questions…Omo! #dontdull Me sef I chooked my head!
To God be the glory the questions were repeated…divine intervention!!
The annoying thing about that day was that the exam was meant to start at 12noon but African time came to play…I was so pissed cuz I was tired of reading and I felt totally blank after sleeping and waking up…Imagine writing the exam around 4pm…The woman is lucky that she repeated questions sha! If not, she would have left the exam hall with a few blessings on her head apart from the minor ones for making the exam start late…
With Med Psych done and forgotten, I had Anatomy on my mind…won wa gbe NLC strike de! I can’t lie I was happy!! I wasn’t half ready for anatomy but on the other hand, It was gonna reduce the time I had for physiology Incourse which was meant to hold the following Tuesday (i.e tomorrow) …
Only for them to cancel the strike later that day!!! May God make them BIGGER!! I don’t want to use the P word on them…
That is how the rest of last week wasted…
I don’t think the drab neurophysiology lectures should be called part of the week cuz really the lecturer does not help matters at all!! Besides we still have Physiology incourse on our minds and you are trying to add more…Plx don’t let man pikins brain reach Breaking point even without knowing anything.
So the NLC people made them shift our Anatomy incourse to this week even after the strike was called off…
Here I am tryna understand the difference between Tubular Secretion and Tubular Reabsorption they just keep mixing up in my head…The effects of vasopressin..Beht why must almost everything have both sympathetic and parasympathetic innervations?? *sighs* It is well
Now we heard that the Non-Teaching sef want to go on a 5-Day strike…they should better respect their pant sizes cuz Emi o raye shit mehn!!
Only God can help us.

PS. All those uncles that will come and be telling me that neurophysiology is important…I know o! This is a SUB :p #theyknothemselves
